Project Introduction
This project captures the behind-the-scenes process of filming and creating content during two on-campus events. The purpose was to show the real workflow that happens before a final polished reel is posted online. Through this video, I highlight setup, movement, environment, improvisation, and the creative decisions that shape the final product.
Project Overview
Behind-the-scenes content is often more raw, spontaneous, and authentic than the final product. For this project, I documented my experience filming campus events, focusing on natural interactions, transitions, lighting challenges, and how creators navigate busy spaces. The final BTS video illustrates the real work that goes into producing high-quality content for social media.
Events Covered
Event 1: PodClass
A student-led recording and content session where creators had to move quickly, adjust to indoor lighting, and capture authentic reactions and interactions. The environment was intimate and dynamic, giving lots of opportunities for natural storytelling.
Event 2: Open House (BTS)
A much larger, high-energy event filled with foot traffic, volunteers, staff, and excited visitors. Filming BTS here required adaptability, fast pacing, and capturing the essence of the event without interrupting the flow.
These two events had completely different lighting, sound, spacing, and energy levels — giving me a strong contrast to work with.

Process
1. Understanding Each Event
- PodClass: I focused on candid creator moments—headphones on, laughing in between recordings, mic adjustments, and behind-the-scenes prep.
- Open House: I filmed volunteers organizing items, greeting students, setting up displays, and interacting with visitors.
2. Capturing Authenticity
Rather than staging shots, I let the environment guide me. Real reactions and actions tell the best story.
3. Movement-Based Filming
I incorporated slow walking POVs, pull-focus transitions, and smooth pans to make the footage feel immersive.
4. Editing the Final Video
I brought both events together using:
- Quick cuts
- Warm tones
- Soft transitions
- Music matching the pacing
The final video gives viewers a warm, energetic behind-the-scenes perspective.
Final Results: Behind-the-Scenes Event Content
The final BTS video showcases the real work behind PodClass and Open House — the setup, the creative thinking, the movement, and the human effort. The tone is warm, energetic, and authentic, offering a candid look at content creation on campus.
